Day 2) Exploring Satellite Beach Florida | My First Impressions
Day 2) Exploring Satellite Beach Florida | My First Impressions
I have never been up to Satellite Beach until I shot this video, but my first impressions of the area were pretty great. It seemed like “just the right size” beach town in Florida, the weather was still a bit cooler than Miami, and I like that many of the beaches still have free parking 😎

It would be great if you can do a video on buying land in FL and building your own house. I heard its much cheaper to buy land and then take loan on building your house.
Those plants are Seagrapes.
Sea Grapes. I sold my condo at 1425 A1A SB in 2012 after 10 years and I moved back to Oceanside,CA.
Very nice… Thanks for sharing your firsts impressions… Enjoying taking this journey with you & Lizzie!!!
I enjoy your videos! If you went just a mile further up from Cocoa Beach, the beaches in town of Cape Canaveral have FREE parking. Also, just a note…You mentioned natural sand barriers….Those aren’t natural. Unfortunately, it’s from repeated dredging the ocean floor to re-build the shoreline. It’s been going on for years. You’re actually in Central East coast, not northern Florida….of course north of Miami for you 🙂 The water though is much nicer in southern Florida. It’s murky here. 🙁 Nice to see you in my area! 🙂
Nice small town tour. I would think you would like the wind or at least a breeze at the beach. That’s a plus for cutting the hot humid suppressing stagnant air during the summer.
We also seem to dodge hurricanes in this area. It’s a bit boring at night. After 7 no cars on the road. Very quit and nice place to live.
In my 30 years of experience, the weather in Brevard County or elsewhere in FL is no different than S. FL during the summer months; that being hot and humid. S. FL is slightly warmer during the winter, and much warmer than the panhandle.
One of the reasons I chose Brevard County is it’s quiet and on the water, but you can get to Orlando quickly if you need city amenities. I have also have my Mesa there!
That area seems really nice to me. I need to check it out soon.
How was Palm Coast?
That is good that there is free parking at a few beaches. Thank you for your tour of Florida.
This is the beach we visit second most. Live in Melbourne. They have some regulation on building heights in the area. It is the surfing capital area… so the water can be a bit rougher. But they’re are calm days
Really beautiful, I’ll be in New Symrna Bch tomorrow and so looking forward to getting back to Florida. Thank you for showing these different areas.
You just mentioned dog friendly/lol
I used to live at the Air Force base 1 mile north used to go surfing there. You noticed the light sea breeze! Agree water color and it is more laid back. But yeah Cocoa Beach requires $ to park although so far I’ve gotten away with not paying while I surf by timing it only to early morning surfing and late afternoon surfing after most tourists leave
You missed Vero Beach and Sebastian. Great sunsets from Sebastian Inlet State Park. Great kayaking. Fun Indian River Waterfront away from the barrier island wind. Free beach access; natural beaches; no highrises. We are THE TREASURE COAST!
what was the name of the beach that was dog friendly in this video please?
can you review Hallandale Beach next
After living my life in Manasquan nj, Belmar,Asbury Park, I need a break from being overrun.when the beach is used up by 10am on a Saturday.. No beach in Fla is as congested as a NJ beach.. Picture an Ulta festival.every weekend in the summer.. More I watch these FLA looking better.
I definitely like this quieter side of the Florida coast. I don’t want to be in the middle of nowhere but I don’t like crowds. Will you be doing the gulf coast as well?
I live in Satellite Beach and I love it!
Michael, thanks for doing this comparison tour. I love it! My sister lives in Satellite Beach and it’s nice to hear a viewpoint with fresh eyes and a comparison to Miami; very informative. Keep up the great work.
I have never been to Satellite Beach either. Nice.
:38 OH GOD! So Playalinda beach looking coming up that boardwalk. Not sure if you went to my beach, but its Canaveral National Seashore and it costs 20$ to get in
As I’ve gotten older, I can totally appreciate the pace of a smaller town.
Another good installment of the Florida tour. I like the Satellite Beach sand better than Melbourne. I like the white beach better. Bermuda has the pink sand beach, I collect sand from the places we visit. It is interesting to see the differences. So I appreciate the info you are giving. I prefer the clearer water. After experiencing the Caribbean waters and now South Florida water, I prefer the clear water. I never knew Florida had the same good clear stuff like the Caribbean until visited Florida. Good to know Cocoa Beach is dog friendly. That is part of the charm of getting away from the hustle and bustle places. You get the quiet and peacefulness. You can slow down and plug into the nature. Even bring along your best friend. Looking to the next video of the tour. Thanks
This and last week up here in Central Florida has been much cooler than normal. Not sure when you had recorded, of course.
All the beaches along Brevard County have been replenished with offshore sand (and, I believe, trucked-in sand) a few times over the past 20 years, most recently w/i the past 3 or 4 years. There were some complaints that some of the new sand was not natural to the area.
Looks awesome! love the beach and the dunes! Lizzy’s hair is beautiful like my daughters ♥️
Thanks for the great review of the area. We bought an oceanfront condo in the streets area (dog friendly part) and love it! We can watch rocket launches from our couch! Love the area because you can still buy oceanfront at a reasonable price. A real bonus is that you can be in Orlando in just under an hour.
One of the best small beach towns in all of Florida, of course I’m a little bias because I live here in SB but I would def recommend this place to anyone. Also it’s relatively affordable if you compare to South Florida or even some places on the Gulf Coast. Great work Michael!
Michael, how much of what you see with the non-crowded beaches has to do w/Covid? STAY SAFE.
Thanks for a video. Been watching your channel for a year and finally Moving from Boston to WPB in a week.
In case you missed the very first day of the trip around Florida you can check it out here https://youtu.be/fd3nKp7AeZ4
Great video! Lisi looks beautiful!
Cool comparison and it looks similar to a California beach and small town IL. I would be interested to know if you come across a beach equal to the modern beauty of SI but away from Miami crowds. I would live in SI but husband doesn"t like it even though he is from South America funny enough. Nice bird chirping!
Super cute dress Lizzie! What a fun trip!
Michael, in your travels can you report when you come upon dog friendly (they say pet friendly now,PC) beaches. Thanks. Enjoy
The more north you go in Florida the more conservative and laid back it is. Western part of the state has more Midwesterners. We plan to retire to Ft Myers/Naples . Thanks!
Beach itself, and surrounding park, dunes and vegetation looked real nice – but the water is not that brilliant tropical blue/ turquoise like the A1A coast in So Florida (Palm Beach down). A smaller town can be delightful, as long as you have access to a bigger place for airport, culture and more dining options. The Space Coast is the part of Florida I am least familiar with (at l east, waterfront-wise). I have driven through a couple times, but never stayed. I do prefer beaches WITHOUT high rises, or at least, not an abundance of them. I always wanted to go to Cocoa Beach to watch a rocket launch (or maybe meet an astronaut!), but the only ones I have seen were from the Gulf coast, so not the same. Cocoa Beach appeared to be a bit more tacky to me, but I am sure I am a certified beach/coast snob – having seen the entirety of both the Pacific & Atlantic Coast. Coming from Ohio or Illjnois or Iowa, every beach is fabulous! Bot once you have lived in LA, La Jolla, Santa Barbara, spent time in Maine, the gorgeous Oregon Coast (especially love Cannon Beach), the Outer Banks of NC, the Lowcountry of SC/GA, and all the beautiful beaches in FL, I am a tough sell on some of these places. However, I cannot pass judgment on a place I briefly saw on your video. Being away from crowds has its advantages! Thanks for sharing! Maybe, on my next trip to the Palm Beaches, I will explore a little further north, as well as finally getting south to Key West, which I have never seen, other than in videos.
Also weather is a little better here in Melbourne than Miami.. welcome to move here!.. yes! It’s worth it and more when you are getting older!.. Lol.. and more safe!
This is great seeing the different beaches as you move northward. Very cool! Lizzy, cute outfit!
I like the way you review the places in detail and compare them to the other locations of the state, good content as always. Great towns and beautiful people!
