Before I even get to the part in the video with the officers, there is a limit of 5 traps, also they have to have regulations on the type of traps. And depending on the time of year which you should check, they ban crabbing to pull non used traps.

You were there to ID your Traps! Believe you could go to court and a judge would throw it out. Especially when you were taking young teens out. I think those game wardens should have given you warning. Another thing does it take two to give a citation.

This is, most definitely, a belated comment. That said, however, I hope you did show up in person to mitigate the fine you received. These officers were going over and beyond to harass you and the crew. Crab on brother!

The fine is rough, but the rule is understandable. Some people will bend the rules if they are not held accountable (putting address on traps).
I counted 12 traps, but when he is making this video it’s, I got 5 traps….you got to follow the rules. Crab stocks are decimated. And as easy as someone can say I am cooking for these people, they can leave and sell them..follow the rules.

That’s why some stop buying licenses the rules for most fish and game have been getting difficult to be 100% clear to comply with , oh wait you didnt cross that T or dot that I heres a 400 dollar ticket. Way to encourage our youth to participate in the outdoors, Clearly a intentional criminal trying to hide his location or where abouts, a warning would not have sufficed.

Marco island bridge always dirty with litter and the FWC are always present due to the amount of illegal fishing. They are zero tolerance from so many years of problems. Sucks they couldn’t be reasonable with you.

That seems really harsh.
I’m in Florida and have never put out crab traps but I want to start catching blue crabs because they’re killer Black Drum bait for the Big Uglies and too expensive to keep buying.
I read over the regs and got the crab permits added to my license the other day and will read them more closely before I put out any traps out.
Legitimate questions:
So your address has to be on every pot even if you are with it and don’t leave don’t leave it?? Does that even include a hand box trap (which is basically what y’all were doing)?
Also, does the R have to be present on every trap also? I’m assuming that’s to denote it as a recreational trap rather than a commercial trap?
When they are on TV they are a lot nicer!! And cutting a brake to most fishermen!!
Pay the fine and move on…you had several things working against you. 1st your a man…secondly your a white man. Get it…you must have a job there for you can pay. This is called profiling. But its not seen as that because you are white and male. If you fight you will loose and it will cost you more money. There is a price to pay for success and the Wildlife and Fisheries have the right and the power to take it. Simple as that…they have run me through the ringer on several occasions.
