I am a local I live in Amsterdam I want to dispel some things that he said that we’re not true. First thing the TravelCard that he mentions is only valid for Amsterdam GVB not the whole country. If you want something that is valid for the whole country you can purchase A blue OV- chipkaart for tourists the card costs about eight euros (one time fee) and it is valid for five years. If you want to use the card for the NS train and for the metro, trans, and buses then you need to maintain at least a balance of €20 on the card. If you only want to use it for the public transportation with an Amsterdam then there’s no minimum and you can use it as a means of pay as you go.

Amsterdam is a beautiful city but spoiled by too many tourists, too much English language signage everywhere ( don’t people go there to see Holland, not a tacky cheap Englified fun park), too many horrid little tourist tat shops. Just sayin…
