i amsterdam sign has gone – when we were there it was very busy at the front – we went to the reverse side of the sign – took photos – when we came home i just flipped the image horizontally – we had uncluttered images with no tourists on our side of the sign.

Tip: Be careful when buying flower bulbs at the Bollenmarkt! Recently a report came out that said only one percent of bulbs bought there actually end up blooming. This is mainly due to vendors selling dried out bulbs that they kept for too long. As a general rule, there really shouldn’t be any bulbs available between December and July, so any you encounter in that time will most likely be old dried up ones.

  26. Andre Peterson on February 4, 2020 at 11:43 pm

Please do not hire a bike as tourist to be with the locals. Please. As a local I can’t imagine how many times there have been near accident experiences with tourists going the wrong direction and just ignoring the lights. Other than that, welcome.

A tip for any person who’s planning a trip to Amsterdam: STAY AWAY!!! Amsterdam is a filthy shitty town, packed with tourists. When you’re walking through the streets there is always a big chance you’ll get hit by locals or tourists on bicycles. The city is seriously overprised. In short, the city doesn’t have a soul and is a Disneyland for adults, nothing more.

Better try The Hague, Utrecht or Leiden instead, or go to cities outside the Randstad like Groningen, Eindhoven or Maastricht. Trust me, you’ll have a lot more fun and you have a chance to experience some true Dutch culture, which you can’t find anywhere in Amsterdam.

  29. Mario Basic on February 4, 2020 at 11:48 pm

SMOKE SOME WEED THATS THE ONLY GOOD THING THERE OTHERS ONE ARE NOTHING SPECIAL

  30. Sipke de Boer on February 4, 2020 at 11:50 pm

If you opt for an OV-chipkaart, also get the OV-bicycle subscription for €0,01 per year (administrative). That way, you can get an OV-bicycle at almost any train station in the Netherlands for just €3,85 a day.

I’m going to Amsterdam next month but I’m staying around 5 miles from the centre.. could anyone tell me the cheapest way to get to the centre?

  38. Aidy Gooner on February 5, 2020 at 12:02 am

I don’t understand why these touristy videos don’t mention sports in the city. Amsterdam is home to one of the most famous football clubs around the world and the most successful team in the Netherlands where many foreign visitors visit their stadium that has been named after the best ever footballer of the Netherlands, Johan Cruyff.

  39. A22DNAL on February 5, 2020 at 12:03 am

Sad to see so many "dislikes" on this video. I felt the guide was to-the-point and very informative (for the time period). It laid a great basis for me to begin my travel plan for my days in Amsterdam. Thanks!
